At Wonderstory, we want to make sure you’re getting the right level of animation complexity for your story and budget.
All our explainer videos are crafted with care, but the complexity of character movement can have a big impact on both price and turnaround time.

🧍♂️ What Is Standard Character Animation?
This is what we use in most explainer videos. It includes essential movements that keep things clear, engaging, and affordable:
- General limb movement
- Basic lip sync (if needed)
- Head and arm gestures
- Pointing, nodding, or reacting
- Subtle facial expressions or eye movement
Benefits: clear, cost-effective, fast to produce — without sacrificing quality

🏃♂️ What Is Advanced Character Animation?
Advanced animation goes a step further. It includes increased full-body motion and more complex sequences, such as:
- Running, climbing, jumping
- Characters interacting with objects or their environment
- Dynamic poses and transitions
- Custom camera movement following action
Ideal for: big-budget campaign films, narrative-led animations, or videos with more dramatic or cinematic moments
⏳ Why Does Advanced Animation Take Longer, and Cost More?
Advanced scenes require more behind-the-scenes work:
- Character rigging – We build a more complex internal structure so the character can move realistically
- Custom keyframing – Complex motions need more time to animate frame-by-frame
- Scene planning – We often storyboard and time scenes more precisely to make them look right
- Testing and refinement – These movements are harder to get “just right,” so we build in extra revision time
That’s why we only recommend it when it truly serves the story.
💡 Which One Do I Need?
Most of our clients don’t need ‘advanced’ animation.
Standard animation is often more than enough to communicate your message with clarity and warmth — and it helps keep your project on time and on budget.
However, if you’re planning a flagship video for a major campaign or long-term use, it may be worth investing in advanced animation. It gives us flexibility to include more cinematic moments — like a character running through a crowd or climbing a staircase — which can add energy and visual appeal.
❓ If I Choose Standard, Can My Character Still “Do Things”?
Absolutely!
Even in standard animation, we can often show the idea of an action — for example, holding a pose of someone holding a sign or reaching for something. It just means the character may pause longer in each pose and won’t perform as much full-body movement across the screen.
